You Know What Grinds My Gears?

I go to get my lunch at the little cafe on my floor today and the lady that is usually there isn't there so to cover for her there is this other guy there...probably in his 40's and heavy set. Funny guy very talkative and friendly at least the few times I've seen him.
So he is there today and I am getting my lunch and he starts talking:

Guy: Lunch Here is expensive
Me: Yeah I know, but I didn't bring my lunch today so I gotta eat.
Guy: oh you normally bring lunch? what do you bring..tacos..faGEEtas??

(Pause...SMH)
Now I know its spelled Fajitas...but the man said faGEEtas! LMAO! but that is not what Grinds My Gears! This man assumed either that I was Mexican or that all Hispanic people eat Fajitas! WTF! C'mon guy! now there is nothing wrong with Mexicans but can we please realize that not all your Latino friends are from the same country! Not to mention we don't all eat the same food! First everyone assumed I knew what Pupusas were (Pupusas were first created by the Pipil tribes which lived in the territory which is now known as El Salvador.) El Salvador people NOT PERU!!!

(Convo Cont.)

Me: No...
Guy: oh so what you do make beans...(I cut him off at this point)
Me:... -. - chicken, rice, some times spaghetti, soup sandwiches...
Guy: oh ok...you speak very good English!
Me: well that's what happens when your in the country for 20 years!
Guy: Oh (with an embarrassed look on his face)

This man just swallowed both feet! I SPEAK VERY GOOD ENGLISH!?!?!?!? WTF IS THAT! Why do some people assume that every Hispanic you see doesn't speak the language or expect a thick accent???? Seriously what is that? I figured that as I got older this kind of stuff would desist but no no no...its here! like when I was little and American people would talk really loud and slow like I was deaf!! *sigh* I guess some folks just don't know any better...

So a note to you Americans..like my sergant always said DONT ASSUME ANYTHING OR YOU WILL MAKE AN ASS OUT OF YOU AND ME!!
