Saber-Tooth Tiger skull Found in Venezuela

Although there have been fossils discovered in South America over the years – mostly those of panthers, wolves, horses, and condors – the biggest discovery in recent decades was found recently at a dig site in Venezuela. A pack of six Scimitar Cats, from the saber-tooth cat family, was unearthed after an oil drilling expedition exposed their fossilized remains. The big haul however, was the one whole, and intact skull from one of the larger cats.

The Simitars have been extinct for over 500,000 years, and since the saber-toothed family has never before been discovered in South America, it's quite the find – expanding the previously known habitats of the ancient cats.
