Cocaine Cowboys

Last night I was searching through my comcast guide and stumbled on to this documentary titled Cocaine Cowboys . It was a great documentary on HBO about the cocaine trade in the 70's and 80's that had a indeniable impact on Miami. By the 80's Miami tripled their homicide rate which made it the murder capital of the country, who knew that the person behind this would end up being a woman by the name of Griselda Blanco AKA La Madrina. Time magazine did a cover story on November 23, 1981 and dubbed Miami "Paradise Lost". I did a bit of research the article was done by a Mr. James Kelly. click on the link to proceed to the article : http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,922693-2,00.html

Here is the trailer to Cocaine Cowboys a film by Billy Corben

I am thankful that I wasn't born in miami during these times!
